RFQ - Request for Qualifications for architects and engineers for the Tolloty Technology Center Incubator was released today, May 20, 2011 by the Kent State University Office of University Architect.
Kent is one of three partners on the incubator project along with the Tuscarawas County University Branch District (Kent State University at Tuscarawas) and the Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) of Tuscarawas County which owns and manages the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park, in New Philadelphia, Ohio where the Incubator will be located. The CIC will also manage the Incubator for the owner, Kent State University at Tuscarawas.
The partners are seeking A&E services for the 25,000 square feet high-tech business and research incubator which will include laboratory space, administrative and service support offices, conference and training rooms, a network operation center (NOC) for broadband support in the incubator and throughout the Tech Park, kitchenette and dining area, and office space for companies located in the incubator. The project will also include access road, parking lots, landscaping, and utility extension on a site of approximately 7.5 acres. The building is also to be designed to achieve LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The project is funded through the Ohio Department of Development, Job Ready Sites Program; the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration; the Tuscarawas County University Branch District; and the CIC.
A pre-proposal conference will be held at Kent State University at Tuscarawas, Science and Advanced Technology Center, Room 113 on Friday, June 3, 2011, at 10:30 am, local time.

A $2.3 million federal grant, in conjunction with other funding, will help launch construction of the 25,000 square foot, high-tech business incubator in the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park. Groundbreaking is expected in the spring of 2012.
